I normally encourage photoshoot subjects of both sexes and all ages to be accompanied, whether it be at my studio, or on location. In the case of persons under eighteen then I require the subject to be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian.
I know there a some photographers who won't allow chaperones on the set. This does not include me and I would advise people to steer clear of photographers who insist on working alone with the subject. Any competent and sensible photographer will be happy to have someone alongside the subject, maybe advising them on posing and outfits. I'll often rope them in to help with props and lighting rigs as well if we are on a location shoot.
